Are you aware of the cost of an infestation of RED MITE?
The Red Chicken Mite is an external parasite feeding on blood, feathers, skin or scales of birds. Heavy infestations can result in poor health (anaemia), reduced performance (egg-laying or weight-gain) or even death in extreme cases.
Red Mite only feed in darkness, attacking resting hens at night for a blood feed lasting 1-2 hours each night. After feeding they return to their hiding places in cracks and crevices where they multiply. A complete life-cycle from egg to egg may be as few as 7 days, but Red Mites can survive for up to 8 months without a blood feed.
Investing in a MITE MONITOR can halve the costs ....
By targeting a Red Mite population enabling localised treatment, the costs of labour, chemicals, reduced production, down-grading of eggs, and possible mortality, can be dramatically reduced.

MITE MONITOR provides a systematic approach to the control of Red Mite. Targetted placement combined with regular monitoring can create valuable management records from which to develop the best strategy for Red Mite control.
